The best way in which I have helped myself and others learn a foreign language is keeping in mind the following principles; motivation, exposure and practice, helped by the guidance of an experienced language learning expert who has spent years both teaching and learning languages.
My first contact with a foreign language learning process started with being sent to a bilingual school in childhood, 'picking up' English effortlessly throughout the years without me noticing the process. This ended up in my becoming an English teacher first and then a language pedagogy educator for teachers in my country, a work I still gladly do simply because I find it inmmensely interesting,
The best way in which i have experienced how the language learning process works, both for myself and other adults, is through the task-based, project-based methodology in which, the 'language acquisition process' is 'mirrored' through the solving a communitation need amongst stakeholders, addressing formal aspects of language later rather than inducing aspects first, making the learning of a language a more 'natural' mental work in which communication and acquisition help 'construct' the language learning rather than the other way around.
Of course, there is no right way to learning a language, therefore, the principles I mention first, motivation, exposure and practice are the bedrock in which language learning happens.
My aim is to help learners build, little by little, their foreign language knowledge through practice and real world communication from the outset.
