I have been teaching English for the past two years to students from South Africa and South Korea. My students vary from primary school children to children that are enrolled in college or international universities and the working demographic.
My adult students are from various backgrounds, and I teach them English by integrating relevant topics into our classes. These topics are practical for them to use in their everyday lives and simplistic everyday conversations.
The best way for students to learn English is to have the student speak as much as they can during discussions so that they become comfortable with using the language in different scenes and settings.
My classes consist of mixed methods of learning. These methods include but are not limited to video lessons, infographics, presentations, and E-Books where suitable. Each teaching method is subject to age and level of English proficiency.
For younger students, my classes are more kinetic and colorful because of their imaginative minds which can tire easily.
Each day has an objective that outlines what the student should be able to do by the end of the lesson. The objectives have keywords and contain target sentence frames that students will be able to use in the objective context.
The virtual whiteboard is used by both the student and me for graphical presentations. Healthy discussions and debates are orchestrated and implemented to show the student´s feelings. The discussions and debates enhance the learner´s confidence to communicate naturally in English without stuttering or answering after prolonged rates.
