I am Sanchari and I’m looking forward to teaching English as a foreign language. For schools, for business or just for fun. I am happy to offer a free first lesson, so we can see if we make a good fit :) Get in touch!
An example of a lesson for a basic level student:
Lesson Structure (Duration: 60 Minutes)
1. Warm-Up (5 Minutes)
Activity: Simple greetings and icebreaker.
Example:
Teacher: "Hi, how are you?"
Student responds: "I'm fine, thank you. How are you?"
Goal: Help the student feel comfortable speaking English.
2. Vocabulary Building (10 Minutes)
Topic: Daily activities (e.g., wake up, eat breakfast, go to work, watch TV, sleep).
Materials: Flashcards or visual aids (images of daily activities).
Activity:
Introduce 8-10 vocabulary words.
Practice pronunciation and meaning with the student.
Create sentences together using the words (e.g., "I wake up at 7 a.m.").
3. Grammar Focus: Simple Present Tense (15 Minutes)
Explanation: Briefly explain the structure:
Positive: Subject + Verb (e.g., "I eat.")
Negative: Subject + do not (don’t) + Verb (e.g., "I don’t eat.")
Questions: Do + Subject + Verb? (e.g., "Do you eat?")
Activity:
Fill-in-the-blank exercise: "I ___ (wake up) at 7 a.m."
Create a short dialogue using the new vocabulary (e.g., “Do you eat breakfast?” “Yes, I eat breakfast at 8 a.m.”).
4. Speaking Practice (15 Minutes)
Activity: Role-play introducing themselves and describing their daily routine.
Example:
"Hello, my name is [Name]. I wake up at 7 a.m. I eat breakfast at 8 a.m. I go to work at 9 a.m."
Feedback: Correct pronunciation and grammar gently while encouraging fluency.
5. Listening Practice (10 Minutes)
Activity: Play a short audio clip or read a short paragraph about someone's daily routine.
Example: "Sarah wakes up at 6 a.m. She eats breakfast at 7 a.m. She works from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m."
Ask comprehension questions: "What time does Sarah wake up?"
