I personally believe in understanding the concept rather than cramming the subject aways. Because if a topic is well understood it helps you throughout your life and any stage when it becomes required.
I focus on example based method of teching which is easy to visualize and sticks to the mind like an image or an event. This way a pictorial representation of the topic is constructed in the mind and it becomes easy for the students to bring up the topic easily in an exam or in any discussion.
In my teaching experience, understanding the mentality of the student is very important and building a comfortable education friendly environment is essential. This way the efficiency of the lecture being delevered and the knowledge being exchanged become easy and quick.
I like to repeat old topics by correlating them with the new ones so that it refreshes the meaning and concept multiple times in a class and creates multiple perspectives in the mind of the same thing. This makes it easy for the student to grasp the idea behind the topic and makes it easy for him to use it in various situations.
I prefer a discussion based class, where I constantly get the feedback from the student. This enables me to adapt through the lecture according to the speed and understanding of the student, and this makes the student confident regarding what he or she is learning throughout the lecture.
I belive a lecture well understood saves a lot of extra hardwork for the student.
