I have tutored students of varying ages for the past 8 years and this has informed my approach to tutoring: tutoring is student-based, with teaching tailored to the student's capabilities. I aim to simplify complexity in order to make knowledge accessible. I also offer aid in task management and study skills to promote independent learning.
My approach also depends on the subject. For tutoring English to non-native speakers, I aim to cover the grammatically-accurate basics, as well as ensure a good every-day, conversational understanding of the language.
For Science, Mathematics and Biology, my approach aims to ensure a solid fundamental understanding of concepts, building on this understanding with increasingly complex examples.
The most important thing is for a student to feel comfortable expressing when they do not understand a concept, and I aim to foster a safe and engaging environment to this extent!
