Most of the process revolves around ESA, i.e. engagement, study and activation. During the engagement learners are engaged with the topic of the lesson and the function they are going to master. The teacher asks students some interesting questions to help contextualize the topic and the situation. After this step, the teacher helps students learn the key words of the lesson or the passage they are going to be exposed to through different steps such as eliciting, drilling, and personalizing it. Now, it is time students are given input in the form of reading or listening passage with some focus questions to find information, these focus questions are asked to give them a purpose and direction for reading or listening. The lesson follows by controlled practice and free practice, the former being about the passage and the latter about a personalized version of the topic. The next stage is to help learners extract the form that is supposed to be taught. Learners find specific forms of language in the text with the help of teacher and some questions, then the teacher explains and clarifies how and in what situations they are used. Next, learners internalize the form with the help of different forms of drill designed by the teacher. Students do some written exercise before they are given the opportunity to use the form freely in a real life like situation. Finally, the teacher asks some questions to learners to make sure they are using the form correctly in order to provide feedback.
