Hi! My name is Mirka, and I am a qualified English teacher with over 10 years experience in:
Freelance Tutoring - primary, high school students, adults - 1:1 lessons
Language School - high school students, university students, and adults - 1:10 lessons
Saturday School - preschool and primary levels - group lessons 2:16
Educator in an English-speaking crèche in Luxembourg.
Available to give 1:1 lessons or small groups.
I work with all ages, help with homework, use a wide range and create my own materials, and work to fulfill individual needs of all my students. Combining technology with books and other materials I try to find the best balance for each student :)
You decide the flow of the lesson, the focus, and the place you would prefer. I can come to your place of residence, we can meet at a café in Trier or Luxembourg, or hold the lesson online. All to your preference.
As a non-native speaker, and English being the third language I learnt, I fully understand the struggles one faces when learning a new language, or when one wants to improve their skills and level. I am here to help and guide you on your learning journey.
Some of the hobbies, that help me in teaching as well, are reading, storytelling and writing my own stories and poems. I try to implement the basics of these in my teaching, combining it all together and with my fellow students book lovers we create our own stories during the lessons as well :)
Other hobbies that get me on one page with my students are games - be it board, PC, or consoles, the use of English as an international language in games teaches already young children words in a language often different from their mother tongue.
Last but not least, movies. For a foreigner's ear, there's nothing better than fully indulging themselves in the language via a medium that fully catches their attention.
I'm looking forward to our lessons :)
