Airline captain, "graduated" in 1989, now I am taking some time out to help my son with his education.
My core subjects from school were Geography, English and Art, although most of my education happened after that.
I will teach you the same framework or "Study skills strategies" that enabled me to pass my professional examinations, which is invaluable in itself.
Starting from the core subject of English Language, we can depart into the other areas of study mentioned above.
I have taught Aviation studies to Airline Transport Pilot Level, and have been a flying instructor and examiner from an early age: I now teach newly qualified pilots to fly our jet fleet.
This might sound impressive ?
The most valuable teaching skill that I have developed is taking a complex subject and making it simple and user friendly by allowing my students to build a picture of the subject rather than simply try to absorb pages of text.
The English language is something that I can teach from informal conversation, packed full of idioms, to business English that would be well received at boardroom level.
Aviation studies cover the core subjects for the EASA ATPL examinations, and these of course have their roots in Physics, Mathematics, and Geography, with "Crew resource management" thrown in for good measure.
Within CRM we explore problem solving strategies, effective teamwork and communication.
Meteorology and climatology can also be taught as a stand alone module.
Please let me know your requirements and we will personalise a study plan together.
