I have not only tutored peers my age but as well little toddlers that are learning how to speak English from the beginning. I prefer to ask the student if of age of course what they would prefer… it can be student to teacher where it’s just us talking and writing together or it could be interactive learning where they prefer to learn with others and to work with others instead. Some students thrive more in environments where they learn from other students and some are a bit slower so they need all the time they can get. I use colors to help visualize the words and also to help paint a picture that would be easier for the student and this has helped those with what we call a photogenic memory remember more. We also do songs and cool abbreviations to help them remember a certain word or a certain topic for example adjectives. I also then use the method whereby students get a chance to present to me and the class a certain topic and their understanding so that they really concentrate on learning that certain topic and they’ll be exceptionally good at it as well, this method helped me in my studies as well and I would love to implement it in my teaching. Do not be afraid to consider me to be your teacher for I am young and vibrant and I’m very patient with my students. I believe my teaching methods engage one’s mind too.
