About Me:
I am a native English speaker from the Chicago area. I love teaching and helping my students achieve their goals, especially in learning a new language. My mother was a foreign language teacher and serves as my inspiration for teaching. In my free time, I like going to the gym, cooking, reading, drawing, painting and writing. I am new to the Düsseldorf area but have lived in Germany since 2001.
I have 3 years of teaching experience. 2 years teaching in secondary schools as a Math and English as a Second Language teacher and 1 year teaching English for the Workplace with an emphasis in using Microsoft Office technologies. I speak Spanish and German, far from perfect, but I am able to communicate effectively in both languages for any students that would like a teacher who speaks their mother tongue. When teaching English, my goal is to help students achieve their specific goals rather than choose a "one size fits all" method. I believe everyone can learn, no matter their age or circumstances, and strive to ensure that all learners have their needs met to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment. I have experience with students who have dyslexia and can adapt lessons to accommodate any needed learning supports.
I can provide online or in person lessons. If the lessons are in person, a fee will be added to the hourly fee to cover transportation costs. This fee varies depending on the distance from my location to the student's location.
