I myself ‘Kanika’ from India currently living in Frankfurt, Germany seeking for job
and some growth for myself.
Teaching is the most rewarding aspect of my professional career and forms the core
of my identity as a formal school teacher. Teaching energizes me and I strive to
share my love of teaching and of my discipline with my students. If they see that I
am enthused, it makes them more likely to be enthused as well. I take it as a given
that I need to show them why they should care about leaming. I also strongly
believe that effective teaching involves a collaborative and synergistic relationship
between the students and instructor. I have high expectations for both myself and
my students; they push me and in turn, I push them, all in a mutually respectful
manner. I have a number of objectives and desired outcomes that guide my choice
of pedagogy. My primary aim is for my students to take ownership of their
education. I therefore see my role as one of a mentor and guide.
Mathematics always kept me engaged throughout my education and built my
curiosity to learn and practice it more and more. I have always loved areas that
need problem solving, mathematical and analytical skills.
I started my career by giving private tuition to children which gave me more
confidence and experience in my subject. Then I took a formal job as a teacher in
school. As a committed school teacher, I was passionate about educating students
with engaging lessons of mathematics through new and different pedagogies. I
helped my school win many laurels in the field of mathematics by participating in
various projects and zonals. I worked as a class representative from the past so
many consecutive years which has helped me improve my leadership qualities.
The outbreak of COVID-19 brought so many challenges in the teaching field.
Overnight shift from classroom teaching to online teaching helped me improve my
computer skills. I explored various software’s which gave me new direction in my
teaching career. Learning from how to make virtual classes interactive to learn new
skills of video editing. I felt so engaged in technology. Every day was a new learning
for me. To get in-depth knowledge of my subject I went through many training
sessions to focus on designing an effective high school curriculum geared towards
meeting realistic goals and at a later stage I got appointed as a resource person to
deliver training to other teachers.
Every new research gives us hope to take new directions.
This made me realize to take a step forward. I have gained 12 years of experience
working under an organization and now my goal is to learn and explore
International curriculum of teaching and improve the educational opportunities for
children in my community in the long run.
Education in GERMANY is truly globalized, which will benefit me personally and also
career-wise, as it will prepare me to work with people from all over the world.
