Firstly, I would like to explain how my academic and professional background has prepared me to pursue for this position at your school. . I started with teaching English at the Department of English Language Teaching - DELT, Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka for 10 years ( ) and taught English to students ranging from certificates to diploma-level courses in English. Additionally, I taught academic courses (EAP and ESP) to undergraduates at the Faculty of Arts. Meanwhile, I continuously volunteered as an instructor in the English intensive program of the Faculty of Engineering of the same university so that it would create a platform where I could learn and interact with students of diverse backgrounds and expertise. Apart from teaching, I was also involved in designing curriculum and lesson materials for the DELT at the Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya, with a more content-based approach as students need to enrich their field-specific vocabulary in English when it comes to the third year in university.

Currently, I am employed as an English lecturer/ Head of English at the American College of Higher Studies, Kandy Branch, Sri Lanka since May 2023. At ACHE, I am involved in checking the standards of programs and examinations of students who pursue their degrees in the Broward College, USA program, Lincoln College English programs, and English courses offered by the American College. I am also responsible for coordinating with other English lecturers and thereby designing workshops and new programs. Apart from these tasks, I am responsible for planning and delivering lessons, assessing student progress, and providing individual feedback. I am also well-versed in using online teaching tools and technology to enhance the learning experience. I am familiar with the curriculum and have the ability to develop lesson plans that align with the school’s objectives.
