A Journey Through Mathematics and Teaching

Mathematics has been a cornerstone of my academic and professional journey, shaping my perspectives and career aspirations. My relationship with mathematics began in earnest during my undergraduate years at Fergusson College, where I pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. This phase was transformative, as I discovered not only the beauty of abstract reasoning but also the intricate connections between different mathematical concepts. I deepened this foundation during my Master’s program at NIT Raipur, where I specialized in advanced topics such as group theory, real analysis, and computational algebra. The rigorous curriculum and the intellectually stimulating environment fostered a deeper appreciation for the subject and its practical applications. Additionally, I completed another Master’s degree at Government Holkar Science College, further expanding my knowledge base. This academic background laid the groundwork for my subsequent foray into teaching and research, where I could channel my passion for mathematics into meaningful contributions.

Teaching mathematics has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my journey. Over the past few years, I have taught various courses, ranging from probability and calculus to real analysis, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. My teaching experience includes a tenure as a Teaching Assistant at IISER Pune, where I taught semester courses in Probability (Semester III) and Calculus (Semester II), assisted students with coursework, conducted tutorials, and supported professor-led instruction. I focused on breaking down complex concepts into simpler, more digestible pieces, often using real-world applications to make the subject matter more relatable. For instance, while teaching probability, I devised an interactive classroom activity that mimicked a casino setting, allowing students to explore the mathematical foundations of randomness and chance. This hands-on approach not only made the learning process enjoyable but also helped students develop a conceptual understanding of the subject.

During my tenure as a teacher, I also prepared students for competitive exams such as the CSIR NET and GRE, with a special emphasis on mathematics.
