There is a long list of games that I play with my students such as: musical chair, “hot potato”, etc. They absolutely love these games and they all participate actively during the class.
The amazing thing about doing these fun activities is that not only the kids are learning but they’re having so much fun while doing so. ??
Aside from the games and other fun activities, I incorporate chants into the teaching process alongside TPR. When the students have learned the chants well they’re invited to come to the front of the class and do the chanting acting put as the teacher.
Kids are highly motivated and perform better when they are given the role of the teacher which is why I use this “strategy” often in class.
Role playing is another teaching method I use in my classroom however this method is more effective when used with students who have a good command of the English language such as (middle school students or secondary school students) rather then with the young learners.
With my youngest learners have attempted to put on stage a short drama with very simple basic sentences and it has worked so well.
However, not everyone likes to participate in drama so I mostly stick to the methods that work best for my students.
