Hi, I'm Barbara. I grew up in South Africa, and upon my return to Poland, from this wonderful adventure through primary and high school, I happily helped my fellow classmates in any way I could.
I studied English Philology and Translation Studies, and created and ran conversation classes at Helen Doron in Poland for almost a year. I have always worked in an English language setting servicing customers in various corporations. Alongside my professional career, I have always provided private tuition to children and adults alike, encouraging them to create a basis and build descriptive and creative vocabulary as time went on, which resulted in significant improvements in their confidence and fluency.
At one point in time, I took advantage of EU grants to create my own English Speaking Zone, where students could practice in a relaxed, immersive environment. I have worked with students in person as well as online.
I love to create rapport, encourage students to talk about life in general or guided topics. We do talk a lot about family and professional life at the beginning, and once a solid base is well carried in those topics, we move on to more guided topics and writing. Content varies depending on world dynamics, news, and local/native celebrations. I like to vary topics and respond dynamically to whatever is happening in a particular student's life.
I prefer to adjust to my students' needs when it comes to homework and frequency – this usually clears up after our initial chat or first test-drive lesson.
