As the first steps of my classroom activity I will have several warm up activities for an example: I will make the class energetic by starting with a standup singing session from the previous day giving a reminder to the previous day topic. Next, I will have a (warm language) small talk with the whole class, as to how they have been, asking how energetic they are today and depending on the situation I decide whether I do the 20% or the 80% of my days plan. My daily plan always gives 80% of its concentration on activities and practical guidance. Whereas the 20% goes for the theoretical part. If they seem lethargic, I will start off with the theoretical part including a bit of that 80% in the theory. It always depends on the mood of the kids. Before starting off the day’s lesson I always ask the students to tell me if I go wrong anywhere and ask them whether they have any experience whatso ever to the day’s topic. So, I can use their help when tackling the weaker students.
As per guided practice it is what is done all throughout my classrooms. Yet when it comes to independent practice, I make sure not to isolate students yet ask individual questions and asks them to come up to the board to write their answers of recite them in front of the class. That way I am able build up their confidence and identify their abilities and things they have learnt throughout the day.
My daily lessons always end up with a wrap up discussion where we altogether go through the things we learnt and repeat a song or listen to a music or watch a movie that is related to the situation.
