I have had many of these experiences with foreign students who have immigrated. When it comes to my teaching style, I will adapt to the specific needs of the student and the time frame provided for it. However, it is EXTREMELY important that English is spoken throughout the language. Immersion in a language (as I learned from my own experience) is by far the best way to learn. If necessary, I can translate at any time :). I have tutored other students in English for almost 4 years. My students have varied between advanced classes and regular classes, so I have experience in either. A lot of that experience was with foreign students who immigrated.
When it comes to my teaching style, I will fit the specific needs of the student, and the timeframe around it. I incorporate a lot of elements of classical American teaching, as well as elements of IB English teaching standards.
